What Steps To Take

Extending throughout Southeast North Carolina, Oxford Bail Bonds in Wilmington, services Brunswick, New Hanover, Duplin, Pender and Onslow Counties.

Even though you or your loved one is being held in jail, in most cases you will not go to jail. As a rule only a licensed bail bond agent can post bail for you. Once arrested, legal processing often takes several hours. This is the most opportune time to call Oxford Bail Bonds. Upon contacting us, one of our professional agents will start the bonding and release process for you. The following offers you a guide in this process:

  • Obtain the booking number, the jail he or she is being held in, and the charges against the person. You will also need to know the amount of bail.
  • You will need to provide the person’s date of birth and full legal name.
  • Try to get access to a fax machine, or a number where you can receive faxes. FedEx Office or other copy shops will provide you with their phone number if you cannot arrange for a fax outlet. Generally they charge $1 per page, but it could be more.
  • In most cases we are required by law to collect 15% of the bail set as a premium. You must pay this amount or arrange other financing with us to gather the funds. We accept cash and all major credit cards. Additionally, Oxford Bail Bonds provides in-house financing if necessary.
  • The Court will set a bail amount that we agree to guarantee. That guarantee means we are assuring the court that the person will appear. Sometimes you may need to provide collateral property, such as your home, vehicle boat or other property as an added assurance that the person will appear in court when required.
  • When you call Oxford Bail Bonds, a professional agent will ask you questions relating to who, where, what and why about you or the person you want to help. You will also be asked about personal history of the person in custody, such as previous arrests, time at current residence, place of employment, etc. Please provide a current contact number and always be available so that we can reach you in a timely manner and when necessary (which will happen frequently).
  • Oxford Bail Bonds will then contact the jail where the person is being held. We will obtain the exact bail information and begin immediately to plan their release.

Please be patient with us as we do all we can to secure your/other persons bail and release. Once we have created a workable plan, we will call you with the details.
